Legacy of Light: Planned Giving A lasting way to stand with men on their path to stability.
A planned gift is one of the most meaningful ways to support PorchLight’s work for years to come. By including PorchLight in your estate plans, you help ensure that men experiencing homelessness in East King County continue to have access to shelter, housing, and the support they need to move forward.
Legacy of Light
A Legacy of Light gift is a future gift you arrange during your lifetime that supports PorchLight beyond today. These gifts often cost nothing now and can be updated as your life changes. Legacy gifts help PorchLight plan responsibly, respond to community need, and sustain essential services long term.
When you include PorchLight in your estate plans, you join the Legacy of Light.
Members of the Legacy of Light Society:
- Share a commitment to long-term impact
- Help sustain PorchLight’s mission for future generations
- Are recognized with gratitude, according to their wishes
You do not need to share details or amounts. Letting us know of your intention allows us to honor your generosity and plan responsibly.

WAYS TO GIVE A LEGACY GIFT
Through a Will or Trust
You may name PorchLight as a beneficiary in your will or living trust. These gifts can include cash, appreciated assets, real estate, or personal property.
This option allows you to:
- Take care of loved ones first
- Retain full control of your assets during your lifetime
- Leave a gift that reflects your values
Beneficiary Designations
You can name PorchLight as a beneficiary of:
- Retirement account such as IRAs or 401(k)s
- Life insurance policies, certain bank or investment accounts
- These gifts are often simple to arrange and can be changed at any time.
Charitable Trusts
Some donors choose to establish a charitable remainder trust or similar arrangement. These options may provide income during your lifetime while supporting PorchLight in the future.
This approach can offer both flexibility and potential tax benefits.
You do not need to have everything figured out to begin. Many donors start with a simple conversation with your attorney or financial advisor.
