Emergency Men's Shelter (EMS) Open 24 hours a day. 365 days a year.

PorchLight’s Emergency Men’s Shelter is the only dedicated shelter for adult men in East King County.

The men who come to EMS face complex and overlapping challenges. Rising housing costs. Stagnant wages. Limited access to healthcare. Long standing racial and economic inequities.

Our low-barrier shelter remains a critical intervention when it is done with intention, structure, and connection to next steps.

Coordinated Care

The Emergency Men’s Shelter is the hub of PorchLight’s broader continuum of care. Men staying at EMS are connected to services that support progress beyond shelter, including housing navigation, employment support, and behavioral health resources.

Located within EMS, the Day Center provides daytime access to essential services and support. Together, these programs reduce gaps, create consistency, and improve outcomes for men working toward stability.

Community Impact

EMS plays a vital role in the health and safety of East King County. By providing consistent shelter and coordinated support, the program:

  • Reduces unsheltered homelessness
  • Decreases strain on emergency services
  • Supports men who are working or seeking employment
  • Creates clearer pathways into housing and stability

Partner Impact

The Emergency Men’s Shelter exists because of sustained community investment. Philanthropic partners make it possible to operate 24 hours a day, maintain professional staffing, and adapt to rising need.

Support for EMS strengthens the entire PorchLight continuum and ensures that men experiencing homelessness in East King County are not left without options.
