Turning the Page Together: Light the Way 2025 Recap

If you were among the many guests who joined us for our annual Light the Way Luncheon, you know what a powerful afternoon it was. Together, we celebrated the impact of community, the courage of our shelter guests, and the belief that no one should be defined by the worst chapter in their life.

If you want to see what you missed, you can see the entire program here:

Stories That Move Us

From Programs Coordinator Aania Simpkin’s moving story of her own experience with homelessness as a teenager to Glen’s journey from sleeping in his car to proudly unlocking the door to his new home, every story shared at the luncheon reminded us what’s possible when compassion meets action.

Throughout the event, we saw what it means to walk alongside one another — guests, donors, volunteers, and staff all connected through the shared belief that every person deserves the chance to rebuild.

Honoring Partnership

This year, we were honored to present the Steve Roberts Partnership Award to St. Monica Friends of the Needy, whose Tuesday-night dinners have nourished both body and spirit for years. Their dedication reflects the best of what it means to be part of the PorchLight community — showing up, week after week, with generosity and love.

If You Weren’t Able to Attend

We missed you — but it’s not too late to be part of this story. The impact of Light the Way continues long after the event. Every gift, every volunteer shift, every shared story helps us meet the growing needs of men experiencing homelessness in East King County.

Together, we can keep the light shining — and ensure that every man who walks through our doors has the chance to turn the page toward stability, dignity, and home.
