Congregations for the Homeless Announces Appointment of New Executive Director

Bellevue, WA – Congregations for the Homeless (CFH), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to serving men experiencing homelessness, is proud to announce the appointment of Troy Christensen as its new Executive Director. Christensen brings a wealth of professional experience and expertise in nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, mental health, and developing services for people experiencing homelessness that will enable CFH to advance its mission and expand its impact.

With 20 years of leadership experience in central Puget Sound, Christensen has demonstrated a deep commitment to diversity, equity, social justice, and a track record of driving positive change within the nonprofit sector. He has an extensive background in nonprofit finance, overseeing plans and funding for unhoused people, and developing programmatic support for the chronically unhoused. As the new Executive Director, Christensen will oversee the organization’s strategic direction, growing partnerships, expanding fundraising initiatives, and developing innovative programs and services, to support men experiencing homelessness on their journey to stability.

“I feel exceptionally fortunate and energized to join CFH because of the work our board, donors, and staff have done to position CFH for success going forward,” said Christensen. “I am honored to join CFH and work alongside the dedicated staff and volunteers to make a meaningful difference in the lives of men encountering homelessness. The new 100-bed emergency men’s shelter and CFH headquarters facility, opening in the Summer of 2023, is a powerful resource for our clients and, by extension, our community. Together, we will create a more equitable and supportive community where everyone can access safe and stable housing.”

CFH is deeply grateful to Steve McGraw, who has served the organization with distinction and made significant contributions during his tenure as Interim Executive Director.

CFH looks forward to this exciting new chapter under Troy Christensen’s leadership and is confident that he will propel the organization to new heights in advancing and serving our clients and the community with excellence.
