Congregations for the Homeless (CFH) is pleased to announce we are transitioning to a new name: PorchLight.
Our name change comes after considerable thought, research, and many conversations with important stakeholders. Since October 1993, when CFH welcomed its first guest, the name “Congregations for the Homeless” has served us well. But perceptions and attitudes about homelessness and social services have evolved in the past three decades, and so has CFH. With the opening of our new shelter in its permanent location, the timing is right to refresh our brand and showcase our evolved continuum of care.
Why PorchLight?
The name PorchLight embodies the guiding principles and values underpinning our work from the beginning: Relationships, Dignity & Respect, Community, and Empowerment. Just as a porch light provides a beacon of hope and warmth, this organization provides a guiding light for those in need, offering a safe space, support, and a sense of belonging to individuals experiencing homelessness.
The brand refresh committee chose the name and logo design for PorchLight because it is welcoming and reflects the current breadth of our services, including our foundation of rotating shelters (hosted by numerous churches in East King County), the new Eastgate shelter, twelve houses providing permanent housing, outreach programs, and comprehensive supportive services available to anyone on the Eastside. And while our name is changing, our core values, mission, and dedication to serving our community remain steadfast.
The rollout of our brand refresh will take some time. Expect to see our new logo emerge across our branding landscape in the coming weeks. The first change will be signs going up on and around at our new building at 13668 SE Eastgate Way in Bellevue.
Before the end of September, you will see updated communication materials and new social media channels. We will also be launching a new website. Our website URL will change to porchlightcares.org – a forward will be in place to ensure everyone who visits our website lands in the right place. Our staff emails will also change, with forwards in place.
We are excited about this new direction. Rest assured PorchLight (formerly Congregations for the Homeless) remains the same mission-focused organization partnering with men and the community to create a path from homelessness to stable living.
